BS EN 61347-1 is an international standard that discusses the safety requirements for lamp controlgear. Lamp control gear is an electrical device intended for household electrical installation that limits the current of the lamp or supplies constant current or constant voltage to power LED lighting.
BS EN 61347-1 specifies general and safety requirements for lamp controlgear for use on d.c. supplies up to 250 V and/or a.c. supplies up to 1 000 V at 50 Hz or 60 Hz. BS EN 61347-1 also covers lamp controlgear for lamps that are not yet standardized.
Note: Tests dealt with in BS EN 61347-1 are type tests. Requirements for testing individual lamp controlgear during production are not included.

Lamp controlgear is one or more components between the supply and one or more lamps that may serve to transform the supply voltage, limit the current of the lamp(s) to the required value, provide starting voltage and preheating current, prevent cold starting, correct power factor or reduce radio interference.
BS EN 61347-1 provides a lamp controlgear that is designed and constructed that in normal use it operates without danger to the user or surroundings.
BS EN 61347-1 guides you on the requirements for control gears which provides SELV complies with the additional requirements given in Annex L. This includes especially insulation resistance, electric strength, creepage distances and clearances between the primary and secondary circuit.
