BS 3692 on the specifications on hexagon bolts, screws and nuts gives guidance on the general dimensions and tolerances of precision hexagon bolts, screws, and nuts with ISO metric threads in diameters from 1.6mm to 68mm.
It also specifies and addresses mechanical properties of carbon or alloy steel bolts, screws, and nuts, which are to be used for special applications.
BS 3692 on the specifications on hexagon bolts, screws and nuts can be adopted by:
BS 3692 on the specifications on hexagon bolts, screws and nuts gives clear guidelines which will help those making, selling, and using hexagon bolts, screws and nuts to achieve greater business efficiency and interoperability of their products and services.
NOTE 1: For the convenience of users requiring larger sizes, further information in relation to the derivation of tolerances is provided in an appendix. Mechanical properties are given in respect of carbon and alloy steel bolts, screws and nuts, but the dimensional requirements apply also to non-ferrous and stainless-steel bolts, screws and nuts.
NOTE 2: BS 3692 should be read in conjunction with BS EN ISO 898-1 as it contains tables that reflect up-t-date best practices for mechanical properties of bolts.
BS 3692:2014 is a revised standard. It was updated by technological experts to harmonize it with related European and international standards.
