ISO 20530‑1 is the first part of an international multi-series standard that covers aspects of Intelligent transport systems.
ISO 20530‑1 defines the use cases and general requirements for supporting emergency services via P-ITS-S. The P-ITS-S acts as a monitoring and data transmitting device which gathers a vehicle’s speed, impact, and airbag deployment signal to assess the accident occurrence and type of accident.
Any automotive-related service providers can refer to ISO 20530‑1 for developing eCall service systems into eCall non-supportive vehicles. Once gathered data has been determined as an accident, accident-related information is sent to an emergency service centre.
Note 1: Only notable events, such as an airbag-deployed event, rollover, and stationary accident, are concerned by ISO 20530‑1.
Note 2: The vehicle data gathering device requirement and implementation methodology for the emergency services, are not applicable to ISO 20530‑1.
ISO 205301 on Emergency service support via personal ITS station is useful for:
A unified system requirement and methodology, for accident data gathering and data processing, are necessary for emergency call services to be widespread in the automotive industry. It is important to define an accident detection process to identify an accident while filtering a false report.
ISO 20530‑1 defines the general requirements for the accident detection system via P-ITS-S. It contains information on the accident detection system structure, requirements for impact detection, accident determination process by accident case (airbag deployed /rollover /stationary)
ISO 20530‑1 presents you with the accident detection system, which consists of the UVIP server, which is a part of an in-vehicle system and a P-ITS-S. It helps the users to gather accident data from the UVIP server, analyse this data, and send the location of the accident detected to the emergency service centre. This enables the users to identify the actual accidental situation and to make provisions for sending help in the minimum possible time.
