PAS 10412:2015

What is this standard about? 

This PAS covers provisions for high visibility clothing that uses LED technology. It exists to standardize the quality of such clothing by providing requirements that the industry can check its products against. 

Who is this standard for? 

PAS 10412 will be relevant to trade associations and professional bodies with an interest in:

• LED lighting fixtures
• Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
• High visibility clothing
• Safety and sports-wear 

It will also be valuable to organizations employing individuals who need to be seen, including the police, rescue teams and construction workers as well as sports people who could be outside at dusk or after dark, such as cyclists and skiers.

Why should you use this standard? 

It specifies requirements for high visibility clothing conforming to BS EN ISO 20471 incorporating active lighting via Light Emitting Diodes (LEDs).

It covers:

• LED modules that are permanently attached to high visibility clothing
• High visibility clothing that is designed to be subjected to temperatures between -30°C and 50°C and clothing used in professional or civil situations
• Requirements for the luminous intensity of the LED lighting set only, when not including luminous intensity obtained from other lighting or visibility systems that also appear on high visibility clothing, such as fluorescent material and retroreflective material

It is applicable to LED lighting fixtures having a removable battery-controller set and LEDs measuring between 2 mm and 20 mm in diameter.

Annex A covers requirements for test specimens and test conditions and Annex B covers a test method for a LED lighting fixture photometric measurement.
