BS EN 711:2016 supersedes BS EN 711:1996 which is withdrawn.

• The requirement relating to the tensioning of handrails and intermediate rails were added

• The minimum diameter for handrails was added  
• The design of the mooring equipment was described  
• Function in the event of breakage in the material was added  
• Designation updated (Clause 7) 
• Sample designs for mooring equipment for transitioning to the bulwark and for increased bulwark height added as Annex B;
