The main purpose of ISO/IEC 26553 is to deal with the capabilities of methods and tools of software and systems product line (SSPL) realization which includes detailed design and implementation. ISO/IEC 26553 defines how the tools and methods can support the software and systems product line-specific realization processes. 

Note: ISO/IEC 26553 concerns processes and capabilities of realization tools and methods for a family of products, not for a single system.
