What is BS EN 16767 about?

BS EN 16767 is a document on industrial valves. BS EN 16767 specifies the general requirements for metallic check valves, which are forged, cast or fabricated in straight, angle or oblique pattern (see EN 736‐2) with end connections flanged or wafer, butt welding, socket welding, or threaded.

BS EN 16767 applies to metallic check valves used for all industrial applications.

Why should you use BS EN 16767?

Industrial valves are devices that are used to regulate liquids, gases, and slurries. The flow of liquids or gases can be controlled using these valves. This can be done through pipes and other passageways by opening, closing, and partially obstructing the passageway or pipe. BS EN 16767 defines the information on metallic check valves that are used to allow flow in one direction only and prevent the reversal of flow.

Metallic check valves specified in BS EN 16767 are also used to protect the system and its components from water hammers and pressure surges. The shock waves that damage equipment, pipe supports, and even rupture pipelines due to vibration can be controlled with the implementation of BS EN 16767 on industrial valves.

What’s changed since the last update?

BS EN 16767:2020 supersedes BS EN 16767:2016. BS EN 16767:2020 includes some technical changes with respect to BS EN 16767:2016. These include:

Update of the normative references
Addition of informative Annex B giving the correspondence between DN and NPS
