BS EN 16767 is a document on industrial valves. BS EN 16767 specifies the general requirements for metallic check valves, which are forged, cast or fabricated in straight, angle or oblique pattern (see EN 736‐2) with end connections flanged or wafer, butt welding, socket welding, or threaded.

Industrial valves are devices that are used to regulate liquids, gases, and slurries. The flow of liquids or gases can be controlled using these valves. This can be done through pipes and other passageways by opening, closing, and partially obstructing the passageway or pipe. BS EN 16767 defines the information on metallic check valves that are used to allow flow in one direction only and prevent the reversal of flow.
Metallic check valves specified in BS EN 16767 are also used to protect the system and its components from water hammers and pressure surges.
