This is Part 1 of a two-part British Standard that has been comprehensively revised and fully updated. This part deals with general requirements, sample preparation and preliminary testing of stabilization materials used in the construction sector.

Why should you use this standard?

It specifies sampling procedures, sample preparation and preliminary tests carried out on materials in the untreated condition to assess their suitability for treatment. It includes laboratory specimen preparation up to and including the addition of the treating agent(s).

What’s changed since the last update?

The standard has been full updated to reflect current European standards, technical advances and on-site practice. The following clauses have been updated:

  • 7.4 (10% fine value)
  • 4.1, 4.2 and 4.3

In addition, revisions have been made to reflect updated test methods in BS EN 14227 series and BS EN 13286 series.
