BS EN 60335-2-53 is a European standard that discusses Safety requirements for sauna heating appliances and infrared cabins. BS EN 60335-2-53 deals with the safety of electric sauna heating appliances and infrared emitting units having a rated power input not exceeding 20 kW, their rated voltage being not more than 250 V for single-phase appliances and 480 V for other appliances.
The appliances covered by BS EN 60335-2-53 are intended for use in the home and in public saunas located in blocks of flats, hotels, and similar locations.
BS EN 60335-2-53 deals with the safety of electric sauna heating appliances provided with a humidifier unit, their rated voltage being not more than 250 V for single-phase appliances and 480 V for other appliances. The room air is humidified by evaporating or atomizing water.
