BS EN 10025 is a series of European standards on structural steel that discusses the best procedures and specifications required for manufacturing high-quality steel and steel products. BS EN 10025‑2 is the second part of a series of documents on structural steel. BS EN 10025‑2 specifies the technical delivery conditions for flat and long products as well as semi-finished products which are meant for further processing to flat and long products of hot rolled nonalloy quality steels in the grades and qualities given in Tables 1 to 5 (chemical composition) and Tables 6 to 8 (mechanical properties) in the usual delivery conditions as given in 6.3. Three engineering steels are also specified in BS EN 10025‑2 (see Tables 2 and 4) (chemical composition) and Table 7 (mechanical properties). BS EN 10025‑2 does not apply to structural hollow sections (see EN 10210-1 and EN 10219-1) and tubes.
The technical delivery conditions apply to:
The steels specified in BS EN 10025‑2 are not intended to be heat treated except products delivered in the delivery condition +N. Stress-relieving is accepted. Products delivered in +N condition can be hot formed and/or normalized after delivery (see Clause 3).
BS EN 10025‑2 foresees that semi-finished products which are to be converted to rolled finished products conforming to BS EN 10025‑2 are the subject of special agreements at the time of the order.
BS EN 10025‑2 on hot rolled products of structural steels is relevant to:
The main difference between alloy and non-alloy steel is that alloy steel is composed of iron added with other elements during smelting whereas non-alloy steel has no added elements when it is smelted.
BS EN 10025‑2 provides guidance on the manufacturing process, chemical composition, mechanical properties, weldability, machinability, surface properties, dimensions, tolerances on dimensions, shape, and mass of non-alloy structural steels products. BS EN 10025‑2 specify tests to be carried out for inspection steel which helps you to maintain the quality of steel. BS EN 10025‑2 exemplifies the required dimensions and tolerances that help you achieve precision in terms of product functionality.
As a user of BS EN 10025‑2, you can be ensured of all the properties of non-alloy structural steels meant for processing hot-rolled flat and long products. With obedience and compliance to BS EN 10025‑2, you can efficiently manufacture high-quality non-alloy structural steels products. BS EN 10025‑2 helps you to build consumer trust and confidence in the product. With BS EN 10025‑2 you can be ensured that the products consistently meet and exceed quality assurance targets
BS EN 10025‑2:2019 supersedes BS EN 10025‑2:2004, which is withdrawn.
