PD IEC/TR 62901 is a safety standard on drop cables.
PD IEC/TR 62901 defines the term "drop cable", describes the application spaces and the performance requirements because of the different applications. Cable design options that result from specific applications which are not yet described in the existing product specifications will be explained.
PD IEC/TR 62901 also gives some guidance on cable testing with focused attention on cable performance requirements that are not covered by existing standards yet.

PD IEC/TR 62901 assists in typical installation conditions for drop cables. blowing is a method that minimizes the strain on the cable during installation. The driving force is distributed along the cable length. Thus, this method does not require cables to withstand high tensile force. When the distances are short and the duct route is almost straight, cables can easily be installed by pushing the cables manually or supported by an appropriate caterpillar through the preinstalled duct.
