BS EN 572-2 is a European Standard. BS EN 572-2 is the 2nd part of the “Glass in building — Basic soda lime silicate glass products” series. BS EN 572-2 discusses Float glass. BS EN 572-2 has been prepared by Technical Committee CEN/TC 129 “Glass in building” the secretariat of which is held by NBN.
This European Standard applies only to float glass supplied in jumbo sizes, split sizes, and oversize plates. EN 572-8 gives information on float glass in sizes (i.e., supplied and final cut sizes) other than those covered by this European Standard.
Note 1: Jumbo sizes — PLF (plateau largeur de fabrication) — Bandmasse.
Note 2: Split sizes — DLF (dimension largeur de fabrication) — Geteilte Bandmasse.
Oversize plates – these are plates where the nominal length, H, is greater than 6 000 mm. These plates are produced in a special order.
BS EN 572-2 on Basic soda lime silicate glass is useful for:
A standardized method for manufacturing float glass is necessary to ensure premium quality production. Float glasses are used in buildings for both functional as well as visually appealing purposes. Its transparent properties allow most of the light to enter rooms and its hardness makes it a great insulator. This makes its efficient performance important.
BS EN 572-2 specifies dimensional and minimum quality requirements (in respect of optical and visual faults) for float glass for use in buildings. BS EN 572-2 discusses the scope, references, definitions, dimensional requirements, thickness, and much more in detail to ensure high performance.
Implement BS EN 572-2 guidelines to produce superior quality and highly effective float glasses. Using BS EN 572-2 will also assure credibility to customers.
