To help the user, all of the ‘older’ BS 7079 references are given so that the new and/or updated standards can easily be found, as (although some remain dual-numbered) many are now only known by their BS EN ISO reference.
Although the surface preparation standards are primarily intended for use with hot-rolled steel, abrasive blast-cleaning methods, in particular, might also be applicable to the surface preparation of cold-rolled steel of sufficient thickness to withstand any deformation caused by the impact of the abrasive. The standards are not applicable to non-ferrous substrates such as aluminium or galvanized or electroplated steel.
