BS EN 16905‑2 is the second part of the EN 16905 series. It specifies the safety requirements, the safety test conditions and, the safety test methods of gas-fired endothermic engine-driven heat pumps for heating and/or cooling mode including the engine heat recovery.
BS EN 16905‑2 only applies to GEHP appliances with a maximum heat input (based on net calorific value) not exceeding 70 kW at standard rating conditions.
BS EN 16905‑2 applies to GEHP appliances under categories I2H, I2E, I2Er, I2R, I2E(S)B, I2L, I2LL, I2ELL, I2E(R)B, I2ESi, I2E(R), I3P, I3B, I3B/P, II2H3+, II2Er3+, II2H3B/P, II2L3B/P, II2E3B/P, II2ELL3B/P, II2L3P, II2H3P, II2E3P and II2Er3P.
BS EN 16905‑2 applies to GEHP appliances having:
Note 1: BS EN 16905‑2 applies to GEHP appliances only when used for space heating or space cooling or for refrigeration, with or without heat recovery.
Note 2: The GEHP appliances having their condenser cooled by air and by the evaporation of external additional water are not covered by BS EN 16905‑2.
Note 3: Packaged units, single split and multi-split systems and, single duct and double duct units are covered by BS EN 16905‑2.
Note 4: BS EN 16905‑2 is applicable to GEHP appliances that are intended to be type tested.
BS EN 16905‑2 on Gas-fired endothermic engine-driven heat pumps is useful for:
Gas-fired endothermic engine-driven heat pumps can reach higher temperatures. They are usually focused on commercial and industrial applications.
BS EN 16905‑2 informs you about the newly developed technology i.e., gas-fired endothermic engine-driven heat pumps in the field of heating and/or cooling pumps to develop more appropriate product capacities for domestic use, improve efficiencies, and reduce unit size. BS EN 16905‑2 specifies the particular requirements, the conditions for tests and, the test methods for ensuring the safety of gas-fired endothermic engine-driven heat pumps used for heating and/or cooling mode. It also includes heat/cooling pumps required for the engine heat recovery.
Users of EN 16905‑2 can follow the provisions that are made for the security of the gas heat pumps, as well as manufacture a highly efficient heat pump that can transfer a high percentage of energy than it consumes
