BS EN 12522 specifies the requirements for a furniture removal service and its provision and the general terms and conditions of contract subject always to any applicable national legislation, licensing or contractual constraints.

NOTE: BS EN 12522:2024 applies only to furniture removal services for private individuals where the contract is entered into by an individual or by an employer or relocation agent when the latter requires the moving of personal property, generally consisting of non-commercial property and/or property which is in current use.

What has changed?

BS EN 12522:2024 is a full revision of BS EN 12522-1:1998 and BS EN 12522-2: 1998 combined into one standard. Since 1998 the industry has moved on considerably, so this standard reflects current practices.

Significant changes include mandatory internal auditing, management review and vetting of staff. Plus, in recognition that many users of the standard now work digitally provisions for this have been built into the new version and data privacy requirements have been updated.
