BS EN 10028-3 is the European standard that specifies requirements for flat products for pressure equipment made of weldable fine grain steels as specified.
Fine grain steels are understood as steels with a ferritic grain size of 6 or finer when tested in accordance with BS EN ISO 643.
The BS EN 10028 series of revised standards specifies general technical delivery conditions for flat products, sheet and plate, for the construction of pressure equipment.
The series has been prepared under a mandate given to CEN by the European Commission and the European Free Trade Association, and supports essential requirements of EU Directive 97/23/EC for pressure equipment (PED).
It is intended to be used by suppliers and users of steel intended for producing pressure vessels for use in e.g. high or low temperature applications.
The Parts of BS EN 10028 cover non-alloy and alloy steels with specified elevated temperature properties, weldable fine grain steels, nickel alloy steels with specified low temperature properties, and stainless steels. The BS EN 10028 series is referred to in both PD 5500 and the BS EN 13445 series of standards for pressure vessels.
The requirements and definitions of BS EN 10028-1:2007+A1:2009 also apply.
