What is this standard about?
This British Standard covers requirements for the compilation of first aid supplies in three sizes of kits – small, medium and large – to be used in cars.
Who is this standard for?
Why should you use this standard?
This standard aims to improve safety for all UK motorists by equipping vehicles with the most appropriate first response medical supplies necessary to treat road side injuries.
It seeks to make kit selection simpler by basing it on number of passengers and vehicle type. First aid kits can be complemented by other items that have been identified during a risk assessment if necessary. Requirements are also given for the container holding the components.
NOTE: Where there are unusual hazards that are specific to a particular undertaking or environment, such as the use of hydrofluoric acid, first aid kits should be supplemented with additional and appropriate components.
