BS EN 1364-3 is the third part of the multiple series that specifies a method for determining the fire resistance of curtain walling – full configuration. BS EN 1364-3 is used in conjunction with EN 1363-1.
Note 1: BS EN 1364-3 does not cover double skin façades, over-cladding systems and ventilated façade systems on external walls.
Note 2: BS EN 1364-3 does not deal with the reaction to fire behavior of curtain walling.
Note 3: The fire resistance of curtain walling may be determined under internal or external exposure conditions. In the latter case the external fire exposure curve given in EN 1363-2 may be used, subject to deviating national regulations.
BS EN 1364-3 on curtain walling is useful for:
The fire resistance of curtain walling is determined under internal or external exposure conditions. In the latter case, the external fire exposure curve given in EN 1363-2 is used, subject to deviating national regulations.
BS EN 1364-3 test method is applicable to curtain walling type B i.e., fire-resistant glazing outside the spandrel area - fully fire-resistant curtain walling. For vertical linear gap seals, BS EN 1364-3 defines testing on individual sections of a curtain walling (for example, the perimeter seal, infill panel, or fixing of the frame system (anchoring) used to attach the curtain walling to the floor element.
Overall, BS EN 1364-3 will assist you in protecting yourself in the event of a fire hazard.
