BS 8414-2 is part two of the multi-series standard that provides a test method for determining the fire performance characteristics of non-loadbearing external cladding systems when fixed to, and supported by, a structural steel frame and exposed to an external fire under controlled conditions.
BS 8414-2 helps you evaluate and improve the fire performance of non-loadbearing external cladding systems fixed to, and supported by, a structural steel frame.
NOTE: BS 8414-2 does not apply to non-loadbearing external rainscreen over-cladding systems applied to the face of a building. BS 8414-2 does not test the total configuration of construction incorporating additional windows, doors, ancillary penetrations nor cover exposure to radiant heat from a fire in an adjacent building.
BS 8414-2 is necessary for the following :
BS 8414-2 specifies the tests to provide data to enable evaluation of the fire performance of the components when combined to form a complete cladding system.
BS 8414-2 is intended to give an indication of fire spread across or within an external cladding system.
BS 8414-2 helps you improve the fire resistance of the non-loadbearing external cladding systems.
BS 84142:2020 supersedes BS 84142:2015+A1:2017, which is withdrawn.
