This British Standard, a Part of the BS 5306 series, specifies requirements and provides recommendations for the design, installation and maintenance of fire sprinkler systems in buildings and industrial plant. It includes particular requirements for sprinkler systems which are integral to measures for the protection of life.
This standard covers the classification of hazards; provision of water supplies; components to be used; installation and testing of the system; maintenance; and the extension of existing systems; and identifies construction details of buildings which are necessary for satisfactory performance of sprinkler systems conforming to this specification.
This British Standard is a revision of BS 5306-2:1979 which is superseded and withdrawn.
