BS EN 61753 is a series on fibre optic interconnecting devices and passive components. Fibre optic interconnecting devices and passive components do not require electrical-to-optical or optical-to-electrical conversion during their operation. BS EN 61753-143-2 contains the minimum test and measurement requirements and severity levels that a passive chromatic dispersion compensator (PCDC) using a virtually imaged phased array (VIPA) must satisfy in order to be categorized as meeting the IEC standard, category C-controlled environments.
BS EN 61753-143-2 on fibre optic interconnecting devices and passive components is useful for:
Fibre optic interconnecting devices and passive components are widely used by people as a promising solution for modern access to telecommunication networks. BS EN 61753-143-2 defines PCDCs are used to reduce the magnitude of chromatic dispersion (CD) between regenerators by adding CD to the span that has a sign opposite to the total CD of the fibre cable and components. The requirements cover non-connectorized PCDCs used in single-channel transmission and wavelength division multiplexing (WDM) transmission in single-mode fibres.
BS EN 61753-143-2 shows the structure of a virtually imaged phased array (VIPA). The input light from a single-mode fibre is line-focused into a glass plate. The glass plate is coated on both sides and collimated light is emitted from the reverse side of the glass after multiple reflections in the glass plate. The light from the glass plate is focused onto a curved mirror. The reflected light travels back to the glass plate and is finally coupled to the fibre. Using BS EN 61753-143-2 you can specify the minimum test and measurement requirements and severity levels of a passive chromatic dispersion compensator (PCDC) using a virtually imaged phased array (VIPA).
