BS EN 1482-2 is a European standard that covers the sample preparation for fertilizers and liming materials that facilitates sampling and analysis of fertilizers and liming materials for analysis of micronutrients, potency and safety in agricultural applications.
BS EN 1482-2 specifies methods for the reduction and preparation of samples of fertilizers and liming materials and sets out the requirements for sample preparation reports.
BS EN 1482-2 also specifies methods for the preparation of test samples and test portions from laboratory samples of fertilizer for subsequent chemical or physical analysis.
Note: BS EN 1482-2 does not cover the preparation of samples for certain physical tests which require test portions of more than 2 kg.
BS EN 1482-2 on the sample preparation for fertilizers and liming materials applies to:
Fertilizers and liming materials are nutrients for plant growth and soil fertility in agricultural applications. A sampling of fertilizers and liming materials is necessary for the analysis of micro-nutrients and the quality of the fertilizers and liming materials.
BS EN 1482-2 provides users guidance on the procedure for sampling including, preparation of test samples in original condition, preparation of samples for chemical analysis, sampling for products that are difficult to grind mechanically, organic matter and fluid fertilizers. BS EN 1482-2 also provides users with a step-by-step procedure for the preparation, enabling users to prepare the samples correctly for use in further analysis.
BS EN 1482-2 provides users guidance on principle, apparatus, procedure, labelling, and sample preparation report, enabling the sampling of fertilizers and liming materials for chemical and physical analysis.
With obedience and compliance to BS EN 1482-2, users can prepare and assess samples for physical and chemical analysis of fertilizers and liming materials to ensure stability, potency and fertility in agricultural applications.
BS EN 1482-2:2007 supersedes BS EN 1482:1996, which is now withdrawn.
