ISO 7524 is a standard that serves the technical specifications for the determination of carbon content in ferronickels using the infrared absorption method after induction furnace combustion.
ISO 7524 specifies an infrared absorption method after combustion in an induction furnace for the determination of the carbon content in ferronickels in the range of 0.004 % to 2.5 %.
ISO 7524 method is applicable to normal production operations. It uses commercially available equipment, which is calibrated using steel and/or ferronickel certified reference materials (CRMs).

Ferronickel composition varies from 80% iron and 20% nickel to 40% nickel and 60% iron which is dependent on the amount of carbon in the calcine feed.
