BS EN ISO 3262-20:2021

What is ISO 3262‑20 about?  

ISO 3262 discusses specifications and methods of test for extenders. ISO 3262‑20 is the twentieth part of multi-series ISO 3262 and discusses fumed silica.

Why should you use ISO 3262‑20?  

Fumed silica enhances the resistance of cured coatings to mechanical stress. The introduction of hard fumed silica particles inhibit scratching on the surface of a coating, and they improve the ability of a coating to dissipate energy without catastrophic failures in the form of large cracks 

ISO 3262‑20 provides you with a test method to test the fumed silica so that it can comply with the specification and give desirable output. 

What’s changed since the last update?  

BS EN ISO 3262‑20:2021 supersedes BS EN ISO 3262‑20:2000, which is withdrawn. BS EN ISO 3262‑20:2021 includes some technical changes with respect to BS EN ISO 3262‑20:2000. These include: 

• The main title has been changed from Extenders for paints to Extenders 
• Carbon content has been revised and the organic surface has been refined 
• Magnesium perchlorate has been changed to an example of a desiccant 
• Suitable examples for carbon steel have been added 
• The text has been editorially revised, and the normative references have been updated
