What is BS EN IEC 60068‑2‑13 about?  

BS EN IEC 60068‑2‑13 is the second part of Environmental testing in multi-series. 

BS EN IEC 60068‑2‑13 specifies methods of test applicable to specimens which, during transportation, storage or in service, can be subjected to low air pressure.

Why should you use BS EN IEC 60068‑2‑13? 

Environment testing helps to know the sustainability of the products in different climatic conditions and mechanical stress during the lifetime of the product.  

BS EN IEC 60068‑2‑13 will guide you in reducing the air pressure in the chamber when the specimens are introduced in the chamber. Using BS EN IEC 60068‑2‑13 you will be able to avoid air contamination by ancillary equipment and devices and by the air introduced when pressure is restored to normal. BS EN IEC 60068‑2‑13 also helps to know the sustainability of the product during transporting or in storage to low air pressure.

BS EN IEC 60068213 helps in reducing the failure mechanisms by imposing the stresses of a combination of high and low temperature and low air pressure on articles.  

What’s changed since the last update?  

BS EN IEC 60068‑2‑13:2021 supersedes BS EN 60068‑2‑13:1999. BS EN IEC 60068‑2‑13:2021 includes some technical changes with respect to BS EN 60068‑2‑13:1999. These include: 

• Alignment with recently revised parts of IEC 60068-2 
• Clause 5: severities aligned with IEC 60721-2-3 and IEC 60721-3 (all parts) 
• Addition of Annex A (guidance on selecting the duration of exposure)
