BS EN 62714-2 is the second part of the multiple series that specifies an engineering data exchange format for use in industrial automation systems.
BS EN 62714-2 specifies normative as well as informative AML role class libraries for the modelling of engineering information for the exchange between engineering tools in the plant automation area by means of AML. Moreover, BS EN 62714-2 presents additional user-defined libraries as an example. Its provisions apply to the export/import applications of related tools.
Note: BS EN 62714-2 does not define details of the data exchange procedure or implementation requirements for the import/export tools.
BS EN 62714-2 on automation markup language is useful for:
The goal of AML is to interconnect engineering tools from the existing heterogeneous tool landscape in their different disciplines, e.g., mechanical plant engineering, electrical design, process engineering, process control engineering, HMI development, PLC programming, robot programming, etc.
BS EN 62714-2 provides you with general role classes of automation markup language for the AML libraries, for the extension of the AutomationMLBaseRoleClassLib and the AutomationMLDMIRoleClassLib and covers a wide area of typical roles of the discrete manufacturing industry.
BS EN 62714-2 describes how to model user-defined data, the basic AML libraries, extended AML concepts. BS EN 62714-2 gives an informative introduction, use cases and examples regarding AML and gives an informative XML representation of the libraries.
Overall, BS EN 62714-2 supports the data exchange between engineering tools in a heterogeneous engineering tool landscape.
