BS EN 12098-1 European Standard is the first part of the BS EN 12098 series of standards that apply to electronic control equipment for heating systems with water as the heating medium and a supply water temperature up to 120 °C. This control equipment controls the distribution and/or the generation of heat in relation to the outside temperature and time and other reference variables. BS EN 12098-1 covers also controllers that contain an integrated optimum start or an optimum start stop control function. Safety requirements on heating systems remain unaffected by BS EN 12098-1.
Note1: The dynamic behaviour of the valves and actuators are not covered in BS EN 12098-1.
Note2: A multi-distribution and/or multi-generation system needs a coordinated solution to prevent undesired interaction and is not part of BS EN 12098-1.
BS EN 12098-1 on the controller is useful for:
Hot water heating systems boils water and steam carries heat through the house, condensing to water in the radiators as it cools. The outside temperature compensated controller present in the hot water heating system optimizes and regulates the generation and/or distribution of heat in relation to the outside temperature. BS EN 12098-1 provides operational and electrical requirements that you need to follow while manufacturing and installing of the hot water heating system. BS EN 12098-1 specifies test will check the ability to adapt the controller to the building types and heating systems and confirms the accuracy of the equipment. BS EN 12098-1 ensures that the heating system is reliable and efficient that provides equal heating to the homes.
