ISO 6469‑3 is part three of the multi-series standard that specifies electrical safety requirements for voltage class B electric circuits of electric propulsion systems and conductively connected auxiliary electric systems of electrically propelled road vehicles.
ISO 6469‑3 specifies electrical safety requirements for protection of persons against electric shock and thermal incidents.
Note-
ISO 6469‑3 does not provide comprehensive safety information for manufacturing, maintenance and repair personnel.
ISO 6469‑3 on electrical safety of electrically propelled road vehicles is useful for:
An electric vehicle consists of a battery with a large amount of energy stored in it. The electrical safety of the vehicle is thus very important. Any incident can be fatal.
ISO 6469‑3 specifies electrical safety requirements for protection of persons against electric shock and thermal incidents.
ISO 6469‑3 provides safety requirements for protection against thermal incidents which can occur due to overload and short circuit protection.
ISO 6469‑3 gives test to demonstrate the adequacy of the protection measures to isolate live parts of voltage class B electric circuits. This will help the vehicle withstand voltage.
ISO 6469‑3 lays out requirements for protective barriers and protective enclosures which will provide insulation from electrically charged components.
BS ISO 6469‑3:2021 is the fourth edition that cancels and replaces the third edition (ISO 6469‑3:2018), which has been technically revised. It also incorporates the Amendment ISO 6469‑3:2018/Amd.1:2020.
The main changes are as follows:
