BS EN 50620 specifies design, dimensions and test requirements for halogen-free cables with
extruded insulation and sheath having a voltage rating of up to and including 450/750 V for flexible applications under severe condition for the power supply between the electricity supply point or the charging station and the electric vehicle (EV).
The EV charging cable is intended to supply power and if needed communication to an electric vehicle. The charging cables are applicable for charging modes 1-3 of EN 61851-1. The cables in BS EN 50620 with rated voltage 300/500 V are only permitted for charging mode 1 of EN 61851-1.
BS EN 50620 on Charging cables for electric vehicles is applicable to:
Charging is one of the most important function of an electric vehicles. The charging cables need to be durable and abuse proof.
BS EN 50620 specifies design, dimensions and test requirements for halogen-free cables with
extruded insulation and sheath having a voltage rating of up to and including 450/750 V. That can be used by the manufacturers to improve the quality of the cables.
BS EN 50620 gives marking guidelines that provide manufacturers and users with the ability to trace the cable.
