BS EN 30-1-1 is a European standard that discusses the safety of domestic cooking appliances. BS EN 30-1-1 specifies the construction and performance characteristics as well as the requirements and methods of test for the safety and marking of freestanding and built-in domestic cooking appliances burning the combustible gases given in 4.1 according to the categories specified in 4.2, referred to in the text as "appliances".
BS EN 30-1-1 covers the following types of domestic cooking appliances, as defined in Clause 3,
and belonging to the classes defined in 4.3 (see Table 1):
Unless specifically excluded hereafter, BS EN 30-1-1 applies to these appliances or their component parts, whether or not the component parts are independent or incorporated into a single appliance, even if the other heating components of the appliance use electrical energy (e.g., combined gas-electric cookers).
BS EN 30-1-1 includes requirements covering the electrical safety of equipment incorporated in the appliance that is associated with the use of gas. It does not include requirements covering the electrical safety of electrically heated component parts or their associated equipment1).

BS EN 30-1-1 on domestic cooking appliances burning gas - safety is useful for:
Few daily life practices like cooking, have been brought into domestic with gas, oil, and solid fuel burning cooking appliances. Gas, oil, and solid-fuel-burning cooking appliances have inherent risk factors that manufacturers need to account for. Safety for these products is a prime concern.
BS EN 30-1-1 recognizes the level of protection against hazards of domestic cooking appliances when operated as in normal use taking into account the manufacturer's instructions. BS EN 30-1-1 will ensure the appliances shall be constructed so that they function safely so as to cause no danger to persons or surroundings during normal use, even in the event of carelessness, and during installation, adjusting, maintenance, cleaning, repairing, or transportation.
BS EN 30-1-1 specifies the manufacturer's instructions for use and provides recommended operating procedures and safety precautions for users. Overall BS EN 30-1-1, helps ensure adequate safety and protection against hazards presented by the use of gas, oil, and solid fuel-burning cooking appliances.
