BS EN 14453 is a technical specification that specifies:
BS EN 14453 specifies the characteristics of pipe interrupters with permanent atmospheric vent, DN 10 to DN 20 that is suitable for use in drinking water systems at pressures up to 1 MPa (10 bar) and temperatures up to 65 °C and for 1 h 90 °C.
Note: Backflow protection devices integrated in flushing valves are similar to DC and are not covered under BS EN 14453. The requirements are stated in EN 12541.
BS EN 14453 on pipe interrupter with atmospheric vent is useful for:
Backflow preventers are devices that are installed on your home's water pipes that allow water to only flow in one direction. If the outlet is considerably restricted or clogged, pipe interrupters will discharge water through the vent holes. Their goal is to keep drinking water safe from contamination from other sources due to backflow. Water pressure is generally maintained at a high level in water distribution systems to allow water to flow from the tap, shower, or other devices.
BS EN 14453 provides you with terms and definitions, designation, marking, and technical documents. BS EN 14453 guides you with the general design, physico-chemical and acoustic characteristics and tests. BS EN 14453 ensures high quality, durability, safety and protection for its users.
