BSI Flex 2073 v1.0 is part of our Zero Emission HGVs and Infrastructure Standards Programme, which supports the decarbonization of the road freight industry and related infrastructure. The standard, sponsored by the Connected Places Catapult (CPC) and funded by the Department for Transport, supports the roll-out of hydrogen mobility in the UK by addressing gaps related to refuelling.
BSI Flex 2073 v1.0 supports safe, reliable, and efficient refuelling operations, suitable for various hydrogen service levels and fuel grades. It gives design recommendations for the roll-out of mobile and static gaseous hydrogen refuelling systems intended for roadworthy heavy-duty vehicles.
It covers the manufacture, installation, operation, maintenance, and decommissioning of these sites. It includes recommendations on risk assessment methods, training, procedures, and documentation.
BSI Flex 2073 is a detailed code of practice, developed with the inputs and insights of industry experts, that draws upon current good practices and guidelines to provide a comprehensive set of recommendations.
It addresses the challenges and risks associated with operating mobile hydrogen refuelling systems by referencing and expanding on existing
guidance for static systems and how they relate to mobile applications – an area currently unexplored by other publications.
This BSI Flex is applicable to designers, manufacturers, installers, operators, inspectors and maintenance personnel of hydrogen refuelling systems for heavy-duty vehicles, light commercial vehicles, and non-road mobile machinery (NRMM) applications.
