What is ISO 9374-5 about?  

ISO 9374-5 specifies information to be provided by:

A purchaser in enquiring about or ordering an overhead traveling crane or portal bridge crane
A manufacturer in tendering for or supplying an overhead traveling crane or portal bridge crane

The purchaser should provide the information to enable the crane manufacturer to offer or to supply the most suitable overhead traveling crane or portal bridge crane and equipment to satisfy the duty requirements and service conditions.

The information provided by the manufacturer shall include:

Technical information and test certificates for the crane to facilitate its installation, testing, and use in accordance with ISO 7363 and as appropriate for the appliance.
An instruction manual which should include details of routine servicing, inspection, and maintenance of the crane
Erection information when requested

Who is ISO 9374-5?

ISO 9374-5 on overhead traveling cranes and portal bridge cranes is applicable to: 

Manufacturer of cranes
Purchaser of cranes
Operators of cranes
Maintenance servicemen of cranes

Why should you use ISO 9374-5?  

Proper information exchange will enhance manufacturer-purchaser relationships. It ensures the suitable supply of overhead traveling crane or portal bridge cranes according to the purchaser’s need. The purchaser provides information about his needs, specifications, and requirements in a crane. In return, the manufacturer provides information about the technical specifications, test certificates and instruction manuals.

ISO 9374-5 specifies the information exchange that takes place between the manufacturer and the purchaser for the purchase of an overhead traveling crane or portal bridge crane. 

This helps to build trust between the manufacturer and the purchaser.

What’s changed since the last update? 

 BS ISO 9374-5:2021 cancels and replaces the first edition ISO 9374-5:1991, which has been technically revised. The main changes compared to the previous edition are as follows:
