BS EN 62231 is a British Standard on composite station post insulators.
BS EN 62231 applies to composite station post insulators consisting of a load bearing cylindrical insulating solid core made of resin impregnated fibres, a housing (outside the insulating solid core) made of elastomer material (e.g. silicone or ethylene-propylene) and end fittings attached to the insulating core.
BS EN 62231 outlines about cantilever, torsion, tension and compression loads. They are intended for substations with a.c. voltages greater than 1 000 V up to 245 kV.
BS EN 62231 on composite station post insulators is useful for:
BS EN 62231 provides guidelines to users on how to use composite insulators to have optimum result.
When these composite insulators are handled according to the standards provided in BS EN 62231, it ensures smooth workflow and safety.
