BS EN 13757 discusses communication systems for meters. BS EN 13757-2 is the second part of BS EN 13757 multi-series and discusses wired M-Bus communication. An M-BUS network allows the connection of up to 250 different devices and data reading of each one of them through a single data concentrator.
BS EN 13757-2 is applicable to the physical and link-layer parameters of baseband communication over twisted pair (M Bus) for meter communication systems. It is especially applicable to thermal energy meters, heat cost allocators, water meters, and gas meters.
Note: It is usable also for other meters (like electricity meters) and for sensors and actuators. For generic descriptions concerning communication systems for meters and remote reading of meters see EN 137571.
BS EN 13757-2 on communication systems for meters is useful for:
An M-BUS network allows the connection of up to 250 different devices and data reading of each one of them through a single data concentrator. The data concentrator allows remote reading or/and easy data download to a PC.
The M-BUS wired modules allow direct connection to an M-BUS Master concentrator, thus eliminating the need for pulse emitting devices and M-BUS signal converting devices. This grants savings over the quantity of equipment used a dramatic assembly time reduction and a significant installation simplification
BS EN 13757-2 guides you with wired M-bus communication. BS EN 13757-2 provides you with physical layer specifications that include electrical requirements slave, master, and mini-master. It also provides repeaters, burst, and surge requirements. BS EN 13757-2 also provides information on the link layer. BS EN 13757-2 helps you in the improvement of communication systems for meters.
BS EN 13757-2:2018 supersedes BS EN 137572:2004, which is withdrawn. BS EN 13757-2:2018 includes some technical changes with respect to BS EN 137572:2004. These include:
