BS EN 13523 series covers coil coated metals. BS EN 13523-11 is one of the parts of a series of documents that specifies the procedure for evaluating the degree of curing by assessing the resistance of a cured organic coating film, applied on a metallic substrate, to a specified organic solvent.
The surface of the organic coating is rubbed with an absorbent material soaked in a specified organic solvent at a specified load. The rubbing is carried out in parallel with the rolling direction. The rubs are counted as a double rub, i.e. one rub forward and one rub backward constitute a double rub.
BS EN 13523-11 on coil coated metals is applicable to:
Coil coating is the method by which a metal coil is coated in a continuous process prior to fabrication. The metal coil is brought through an uncoiler, a line-loading accumulator, processed and painted according to requirements, brought through a finish line exit accumulator and then rewound on a recoiler.
BS EN 13523-11 provides a degree of curing test guidelines to assess the resistance of a cured organic coating film, applied on metallic surfaces, which are used for design flexibility, corrosion resistance, and weathering resistance. Which provides a high-quality organic coating on coil coated metals.
By offering curing test procedure guidelines, BS EN 13523-11 aids in the improvement of the durability and the efficiency of organic coating on coil coated metals.
BS EN 13523-11:2019 supersedes BS EN 13523-11:2011, which is withdrawn. BS EN 13523-11:2019 includes some technical changes with respect to BS EN 13523-11:2011.
