BS EN ISO 8130-6:2021

What is ISO 8130-6 about?  

ISO 8130 discusses coating powders. ISO 8130-6 is the sixth part of the ISO 8130 multi-series and discusses the determination of gel time of thermosetting coating powders.  

ISO 8130-6 specifies a method for determining the time for a thermosetting coating powder to gel at a specified temperature. 

Note: The method in ISO 8130-6 is not applicable to coating powders with ultra-short gel times (less than 15 s).

What’s changed since the last update?  

BS EN ISO 8130-6:2021 supersedes BS EN ISO 8130-6:2010, which is withdrawn. BS EN ISO 8130-6:2021 includes some technical changes with respect to BS EN ISO 8130-6:2010, These include: 

• The use of a release agent has been deleted 
• A flat heating block without a spherical depression has been added as a second option 
• The duplicate determination has been changed to a single determination 
• A comment on the measurement of coating powders with ultra-short gel times (less than 15 s) has been added to Clause 1 
• The previous repeatability data have been deleted because they need to be validated
