1 Scope
This document specifies technical requirements and recommendations for the components
of fishing gear and aquaculture equipment containing plastics.
This document establishes the material principles and processes that enhance the circularity
and recycling of components and the materials comprising the components, taking into
account the impact of such requirements on utility.
The technical requirements for the design of fishing gear and aquaculture equipment
focus on:

— Development and selection of materials and components;

— Manufacture, assembly and disassembly;

— Use and maintenance;

— Repair, re-manufacturing and refurbishment;

— Storage, transport; and

— End-of-life including recycling.
This document excludes design aspects related to enhancement of the capture of fisheries.
