ISO 10545 is a multi-part series of international standards which discusses the dimensions and surface quality of ceramic tiles.
ISO 10545‑2 specifies methods for determining the dimensional characteristics (length, width, thickness, straightness of sides, rectangularity, surface flatness) and the surface quality of ceramic tiles.
Note: Tiles with an area less than 4 cm2 are excluded from the measurement of length, width, straightness of sides, rectangularity and surface flatness.
ISO 10545‑2 on the determination of dimensions and surface quality of ceramic tiles applies to:
The quality of ceramic tiles should have uniform colour and texture. It should be firm enough to resist breaking and cracking.
ISO 10545‑2 provides guidance regarding the surface quality which assess the product. Whether the product is affected by surface defect or intentional effect such as cracks, crazing, dry spots, unevenness, pinhole, glaze distribution, specks or spots, underglaze fault, polishing defects, decorating fault, chip, blister, rough edge, welt, etc.
ISO 10545‑2 navigates you through the measurement of length and width, measurement of thickness, measurement of straightness of sides, measurement of surface flatness (curvature and warpage) and measurement of rectangularity which helps in determining the dimensions and surface quality of ceramic tiles.
With obedience and compliance to ISO 10545‑2, you can manufacture reliable and high-quality products. Thus, you can be confident that the product consistently meet and exceed quality requirements.
BS EN ISO 10545‑2:2018 supersedes BS EN ISO 10545‑2:1997, which is withdrawn.
