BS EN IEC 62275 is an international standard that covers components for cable management systems.
BS EN IEC 62275 specifies requirements for metallic, non-metallic, and composite cable ties and their associated fixing devices used for the management and support of wiring systems in electrical installations.
BS EN IEC 62275 contains requirements for the mechanical interface of an adhesive fixing device to a solid surface. It does not consider the mechanical behaviour of the solid surface in itself.
Note 1: BS EN IEC 62275 does not contain requirements that evaluate any electrical insulation properties of the cable tie or mechanical protection of the cables provided by the cable tie.
Note 2: BS EN IEC 62275 does not consider the mechanical interface, for example, the mounting screw, of a fixing device other than adhesive to a solid surface.
BS EN IEC 62275 on cable ties is useful for:
Cable ties are fasteners that tie up your cables and wires together in order to keep them safe and well organized.
BS EN IEC 62275 gives you technical specifications for cable ties and a fixing device in order to make them strong enough to withstand the stresses, that occur during installation and performance under various conditions. It helps you to design and manufacture cable ties that are in compliance with the international standard requirements.
BS EN IEC 62275 helps its users to get guidelines to check the mechanical strength, fire resistance as well as environmental influences to ensure the safety of the cable ties. It also confirms the durability, high efficiency, and reliability leading you in the standardization of the cable ties for electrical installations. It is also suitable for cable ties and associated fixing devices for other applications with the addition of applied requirements.
BS EN IEC 62275:2019 supersedes BS EN 62275:2015, which is withdrawn. BS EN IEC 62275:2019 contains the following significant technical changes with respect to the previous edition:
A Commented Version (CMV) of this standard is available here. Please note, the CMV of the standard is not adopted, and therefore doesn’t contain an additional national foreword, or national annex that might be contained in the BS adoption of the standard. However the IEC text that forms the content of the standard is identical to the BS adoption of the standard.
Commented Versions (CMVs) are specialized publications featuring detailed commentary from technical experts on the major changes between the new edition of a standard and the previous one. Comments may include an explanation for the changes as well as information on the impact of these changes on the application and usability of the standard.
