What is BS 10125 - Vehicle damage repair processes about?
This British Standard deals with how to provide consistently safe, high-quality vehicle damage repairs. BS 10125:2022 is the latest fully revised version of a document first published as PAS 125 in 2006 and then as a British Standard in 2014.

What does BS 10125 - Vehicle damage repair processes cover?
BS 10125 specifies requirements for automotive vehicle damage repair processes undertaken at fixed facilities or by mobile services and includes requirements for:
- Preparation, including making the vehicle safe for repair processes to commence
- Repair processes
- Reinstatement of all vehicle systems where function has been disturbed by the damage or repair process
- Competence of personnel
- Tools and equipment
- Parts and controlled consumables
- Repair process management
- Process control
- Complaints procedure
BS 10125 also specifies the information to be included in any claim of conformity.
NOTE: BS 10125 only covers the removal and refitting or replacement of windscreens, other vehicle glazing and mechanical parts as part of the vehicle damage repair process. It excludes windscreen repair undertaken as a separate activity, which is covered by BS AU 242.
It does not apply to motorcycles (with or without sidecars), three-wheeled vehicles or vehicles over 5 tonnes gross vehicle weight (GVW); and does not cover customer service, which is covered by BS 8477.

This is a full revision of BS 10125:2014+A1:2016. The major changes in BS 10125:2022 include:
- Clarification of the scope bringing clear focus on preparation for repair and reinstatement of vehicle systems
- Significant changes and clarification regarding proof of competence options
- Clarification of competence and supervision requirements and the difference between supervision of people by currently competent person/s
- Updates to replacement parts confirming alignment with VRA UK Standard for Reclaimed Parts from End-of-Life Vehicles
- Clarification that subcontracting at a repair task level requires compliance with this standard
- Clarification of repair process management requirements including records to be retained
- Amendments to claims of conformance requirements
- Other amendments and updates throughout including improved and updated technical clarification for managing ADAS (advanced driver-assistance systems), EVs (electric vehicles) and other technology advances in repair throughout the standard
