PD IEC TR 62368-2 is the second part of the multi-series standard on Audio/video, information and communication technology equipment. 

PD IEC TR 62368-2 addressed functional safety. It includes computers that may control safety systems, functional safety requirements would necessarily include requirements for computer processes and software. The scope excludes requirements for functional safety.

Consequently, the committee recommends that this edition of the document be considered as an alternative to IEC 60065 or IEC 60950-1 at least over the recommended transition period. 

PD IEC TR 62368-2 provides for questions regarding the omission of some traditional requirements appearing in other safety documents. It also provides for further explanation of new concepts and requirements. 

What’s changed since the last update?  

 PD IEC TR 62368-2:2019 supersedes PD IEC/TR 62368‑2:2015, which is withdrawn.
