What is BS EN 60065:2002+A12: 2011?

BS EN 60065:2002+A12 looks at the electronic safety principles and requirements of electronic components, including radio receivers, television and audio equipment, as well as video tape recorders. This applies to all electronic equipment that is designed to be fed from the mains, power supply apparatus, batteries and remote power feeding. Although this standard mainly looks at electronic components intended for household and general use, it also covers electronic equipment used in places of public assembly, such as schools, theatres, places of worship and the workplace.

How does it work?

The electronic safety requirements set out in this standard were developed to protect people and the surroundings of the equipment and components. It only covers the safety aspects of the above-mentioned equipment, and not other features such as style or performance. By following BS EN 60065:2002+A12, you will be able to reduce injury and damage because of:

  • Electric shock
  • Excessive temperatures
  • Radiation
  • Implosion
  • Mechanical hazards
  • Fire

Who should buy it?

  • Electrical engineering professionals
  • Manufacturers of electric household appliances
  • Organizations supplying electronic equipment and components
  • Regulatory bodies

What is new?

BS EN 60065 replaces BS EN 60065:1998 which has been withdrawn.
