What is ISO 10667-1 about?  

ISO 10667-1 is the first part of the ISO 10667 series of documents on assessment service delivery. ISO 10667-1 is an international standard on assessment of service delivery to meet the principles of validity, reliability and fairness. 

ISO 10667-1 establishes requirements and guidance for clients working with one or more service provider(s) to assess an individual, a group or an organization for work-related purposes. ISO 10667-1 enables the client to base its decisions on sound assessment results. 

ISO 10667-1 specifies the requirements of the client concerning: 

• The needs and rationale for using assessments 
• The conditions under which the assessment will be used 
• The decisions about the assessment approach together with the implementation and evaluation of assessment procedures and methods 
• The required competence and professionalism of any person working under its control with a role in the assessment process

What’s changed since the last update?  

BS ISO 10667-1:2020 supersedes BS ISO 10667-1:2011. BS ISO 10667-1:2020 includes some technical changes concerning BS ISO 10667-1:2011. These include: 

• Detail has been added to the explanation about purpose and means of assessment in the introduction 
• Definition of the term “requirements analysis” has been added and the function of requirements analyses has been explained 
• The relevance of this document has been explained for methods that may be used for assessment and screening, whether they are marketed as such 
• Clarification was given concerning the use of new technology, such as machine learning, artificial intelligence, and algorithmic analysis 
• Additional details were given regarding security of assessment materials and assessment of participant results
