BS EN 15129 is applicable to anti-seismic devices.
BS EN 15129 covers the design of devices that are provided in structures, with the aim of modifying their response to the seismic action. It specifies functional requirements and general design rules of the devices for the seismic and non-seismic design situations, material characteristics, manufacturing and testing requirements, as well as assessment and verification of constancy of performance, installation and maintenance requirements.
BS EN 15129 on anti-seismic devices is useful for:
The modification of the seismic response of the structure is obtained by increasing the fundamental period of the structure, by modifying the shape of the fundamental mode, by increasing the damping, by limiting the forces transmitted to the structure and/or introducing temporary connections that improve the overall seismic response of the structure.
BS EN 15129 sets rules for the design of anti-seismic devices, specific to the seismic situation. These devices have in general sustained non-seismic situations; in these situations, they are ruled by Eurocodes and other European Standards.
This will help you to know the rules, installation, material characteristics, performance and maintenance requirements of anti-seismic devices.
BS EN 15129:2018 supersedes BS EN 15129:2009, which is withdrawn.
