BS EN 3299 is a European standard on aerospace series that covers technical specification of self-locking shaft-nuts and threaded rings.
BS EN 3299 specifies the characteristics, qualification and acceptance requirements for self-locking shaft-nuts and threaded rings, with right- or left-hand MJ threads, in FE-PA2601, silver-plated, for aerospace applications.
Note: BS EN 3299 is applicable whenever referenced.
BS EN 3299 on self-locking shaft-nuts and threaded rings is useful for:
A Locknut (self-locking nut, locking nut), is a nut which resists loosening through vibration and normal use. This trait makes them essential hardware for a multitutde of applications. Unlike free spinning nuts, lock nuts make use of a deforming elastic or metal material to stay in position against torque and shock.
Thread ring gauges are designed to be used for go/no go gaging. Thread ring gages are used for inspecting external screw threads of manufactured parts. With go/no go thread ring gauges, an inspector can quickly pass or fail parts without taking time consuming readings from a measuring instrument.
With the use of BS EN 3299 you get to know the characteristics, qualification and acceptance requirements of self-locking shaft-nuts and threaded rings which can be very helpful for use in aerospace applications.
