BS EN 2997-001:2017

What is BS EN 2997‑001 - Connectors, electrical, circular, coupled by a threaded ring, fire-resistant or non-fire-resistant about?  

BS EN 2997‑001 specifies the general characteristics, the conditions for qualification acceptance and quality assurance, and the test programs and groups for threaded ring coupling circular connectors, fire-resistant or non-fire resistant, intended for use in a temperature range from − 65 °C to 175 °C continuous, 200 °C continuous or 260 °C peak according to the classes and models. 

The internal thread of the coupling ring may be treated during the manufacture with a suitable lubricant compatible with the performance required in  BS EN 2997‑001.

 Why should you use BS EN 2997‑001 - Connectors, electrical, circular, coupled by a threaded ring, fire-resistant or non-fire-resistant?  

This family of connectors in BS EN 2997‑001 is derived from MIL-DTL-83723 series III, type T which it is intermateable with. It is particularly suitable for use on aircraft engines and in zones of severe environmental conditions on board aircraft, applying EN 2282.  

The connectors in BS EN 2997‑001 are distinguishable from MIL-DTL-83723 by: 

• The mechanical stop for coupling being achieved manually 
• The coupling system has a self-locking nut that features greater resistance to decoupling 
• The variety of the functional classes and models, including models with integrated cable outlets 

The tests of EN 2591-100, are applicable in the context of BS EN 2997‑001 as well as the details necessary for implementing them and for inspecting connector characteristics.  

The quality department of the manufacturer shall be able to demonstrate, at any given time, that the product complies with the manufacturing documentation and with the product standard concerned. 

There shall be a monitoring system in place for the various inspection phases. This shall be evidenced by documents kept available by the manufacturer for a period of five years and submitted to the national official services on request.
