BS EN 2713 is a European Standard that covers cables, electrical, single, and multicore for aerospace applications, enabling the prevention of external electrical noise and stable operability under varying temperature conditions in aerospace applications.
BS EN 2713-011 is one of the parts of the BS EN 2713 series that specifies the characteristics of UV laser printable, single, and multicore silver plated copper screened (spiral) and jacketed electrical cables for use in the on-board electrical systems of aircraft, at operating temperatures between − 55 °C and 200 °C.
BS EN 2713-011 also makes it possible to mark these cables by hot stamp printing or ink jet printing. These markings shall be in accordance with BS EN 3838.
BS EN 2713-011 on cables, electrical, single, and multicore for aerospace applications is useful for:
Aerospace electrical cables sustain intense vibration during take-off, flight, and landing, while also being subject to harsh environmental conditions. Cable faults cost money and create disruption, so there is an enormous demand for cable test techniques to ensure cables and joints are in good condition.
BS EN 2713-011 provides users guidance on materials and construction, including materials, screen, outer jacket, construction, colour coding of cores and jacket, enabling users to develop electrical cables with high strength and performance.
BS EN 2713-011 provides users guidance on the required characteristics of cables, including tests such as visual examination, voltage proof test, insulation resistance, surface resistance, overload resistance, accelerated ageing, and thermal shock, ensuring stable operability and prevention of hazards.
With obedience and compliance to BS EN 2713-011, users can develop and assess electrical cables for use in the onboard electrical systems, ensuring noise immunity and prevention of electrical interferences.
