BS EN 12004-1 is the first part of an international standard used for adhesives for ceramic tiles.
BS EN 12004-1 specifies the performance requirements and assessments for the adhesives for ceramic tiles. BS EN 12004-1 also specifies the appurtenant test methods, assessment and verification of constancy of performance (AVCP), as well as classification, designation and marking of adhesives for ceramic tiles. BS EN 12004-1 gives the terminology concerning the products, working methods, application properties, etc, for ceramic tile adhesives.
Note: BS EN 12004-1 is applicable to the following three types of adhesives for ceramic tiles, i.e., cementitious ones for internal and external tile installations, dispersion and reaction resin ones for internal tile installations, on walls and floors.
Note 2: BS EN 12004-1 does not provide criteria or recommendations for the design and installation of ceramic tiles.
BS EN 12004-1 on adhesives for ceramic tiles is useful for:
Adhesives are also known as glue or cement. These adhesives are non-metallic substances applied to one or both surfaces of two separate items that binds them together and resist their separation. Using BS EN 12004-1 you will be able to stick the ceramic tile on floors or wall surfaces.
BS EN 12004-1 is useful in determining the characteristics of adhesives. These characteristics helps in identifying the performance of these adhesives when the fire takes place. With the help of BS EN 12004-1, you can resist the chemical attack made on ceramic tile by using adhesives.
By studying BS EN 12004-1 you can understand the working and application process of adhesives for ceramic tiles and produce better quality products.
BS EN 12004-1:2017 supersedes BS EN 12004:2007+A1:2012. BS EN 12004-1:2017 includes some technical changes with respect to BS EN 12004:2007+A1:2012. These include:
